This is a show about not baby-sitting your own kids.
DadMan is a brand-new immersive, provoking and highly visual show by female-led Notnow Collective, who are back at The Party Somewhere Else Festival after the great success of their show Wonderwoman: The Naked Truth in 2018.
In this immersive, provoking and highly visual hour, they attempt to give centre stage to fathers.
Partly quiz, partly story, and partly total fantasy, intertwined with live music and original songs, DadMan makes for a hilarious and poignant experience, as he meets Breasts, Flexi –Hours, Soft Play Areas, Trust and Sex (not necessarily in that order, or at the same time!!).

Notnow Collective specialise in ‘Bring Your Own Baby’ shows for adults. Enjoy a great night out at daytime, without needing to spend on a baby-sitter! BYOB shows fully welcome babies to the audience. Each of the actors are fully prepared to work around babies and toddlers crying, shouting or invading the stage!

There is a free crèche provided by Bulwell Toy Library for children 1+ available during this show. Children up to 18 months can be taken into the show.

The Party Somewhere Else throw parties for ALL, full of theatre, arts and inspiration for ALL, and we’d love you to join the conversation.
This is your chance to see exciting new performances in development, meet the women that created them, and get involved in discussions about the voices that want to be heard, the stories that need to be told, and the audiences who are ready to listen.
Watch, mingle, listen, laugh, and cry if you want to.
Performances include: an adaptation of an Austen novel with pop music, empire lines, and lots of rain sound effects; a play about five young women from London, and their journeys to self-love and celebration of themselves; and the first chance to see new work from the award-winning writer of Ladykiller!
PLUS! A talk from Oyinkansole Adebayo - the founder of Niyo Enterprise, an organisation that
uses creative tools such as innovative afro-hair for female economic empowerment.

IMPORTANT: This event is split into two halves and only 40 free tickets are available for each half. You are welcome to book tickets for and attend both.

This is a work-in progress from award-winning playwright Madeline Gould, writer of Ladykiller.
An intimate and universal play about finding your voice and having the confidence to use it, this will be the first ever showing of a play that ultimately aims to invite you to open your mouth joyfully wide and roar.

Sensibility - Happenchance Theatre
Elinor and Marianne. Their father died, their mother's a mess, they have no money or accomplishments,
and they’ve fallen in love with men they can’t have. Do they go after them? Do they get over it? Or do
they sit and wait for the men to change their minds?
Happenchance presents an adaptation of Austen’s beloved novel, an ode to Little Mix, and a celebration
of the sisters who have been with you the whole time. Expect pop music, empire-lines, and lots of rain
sound-effects.

“The best version of you? What even is that?”
When you’re shown that you’re Other, accepting yourself can be difficult.
This debut play from The SPYCE Collective is about five young women from London, and their journeys to self-love and celebration of themselves.
Erycah, Jasmyn, Lauryn, Maya and Raye are battling against stereotypes of themselves, but somehow when they come together, it's like therapy. In an exploration of beauty, sexuality and femininity, the women share their stories of discovery.

The SPYCE Collective is committed to creating, developing and producing challenging theatre for diverse
audiences. The collective aim to explore a variety of issues ranging from those specific to the black female experience to universal themes such as love, sexuality and mental health. They strive to create work that provides honest representations and positively dismantles stereotypes about black women.
Guest Speaker: Oyinkansola Adebayo
Oyinkansola is a founder, CEO and an inspirational emerging leader, who is based in Nottingham. She founded Niyo Enterprise - a company that specialises in using creative tools to empower, equip and build young women to create sustainable social enterprises. She is also non-executive director for the for the company commonly known as Urban Heard: Youth Engagement Specialist.

This voyeuristic theatrical experience explores the rituals and minefields of dating in a post #metoo era. This is about more than gender. It’s about sexual dominance, social constructs and power. Who do we have faith in when one party believes it’s sexual misconduct, and the other, simply a bad date?

Sophia’s imaginary friend is called Mr. Whatsit.
No matter where Sophia finds herself living, he’s always there with a new joke to tell and a new game to play.
But when Sophia moves into her new foster home, Mr Whatsit finds himself unimagined! Now Sophia has a new imaginary friend – the glamourous, grown-up Margo.
Can Mr. Whatsit’s childish playfulness keep him from being unimagined for good? And with her imaginary friends competing against each other, will Sophia manage to find her forever home?
Winners of the Best of Brighton Fringe Children and Family Show 2018, PaddleBoat Theatre Company present an interactive make-believe tale where the real and imaginary collide, and friends are never far away.

8+ This performance is in a small intimate space.
Island Home is an experimental performance combining storytelling, object and shadow theatre, puppets, pop-up, and installation elements and bringing them into a dream-like universe.
It is a compilation of tiny stories reviewing different aspects of journeys in life; and each of them has its own visual representation. The journeys represented are depicted in short symbolic stories weaved together around the theme of leaving home voluntarily or involuntarily, searching for one`s place in the world, peace and acceptance.

The performance uses various sound toys and small acoustic instruments, flashlights, table-lamps and reflections. After the performance the audience is invited to explore the objects and the performance table turns into a small cabinet of curiosities.

2017 - The Weinstein scandal breaks, #MeToo explodes on Twitter and the Time’s Up movement is born.

Michael Fallon (remember him?) resigns from government for “touching someones knee”. A new wave of feminism begins (is this one the fourth or the fifth? I’m losing count now). It’s SO effective that the USA elects a pussy grabber for president.
​
Two years later: the dust has settled, dried in the intense heat of 2018 (global warming?), been pissed on and turned into sludge. Three very different women have been wading through it.
Three monologues, born from an actress responding in character whilst all the furore was ‘kicking off’. Stupid and poignant. And it’s quite funny.
​
Shelley Draper has been working as a professional actress since 2002. Starting with some years in issue based Theatre-In-Education, she has also acted in fringe theatre, television, film and many commercials. This is the first one woman show she has written and she is delighted to bring it to The Party Somewhere Else Festival 2019, after performing it as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival on 11th February at The Criterion, Leicester. Here it is, after two years of development which began with a very small ‘scratch’ performance of Cat within a Party Somewhere Else Open House event in January 2018.

And what better way to answer them than in the form of a musical. Come ask your question and get Pippa Evans (The Showstoppers, Radio 4) to sing you the answer.

Accompanied by MD Christopher Ash (Wasted, The Showstoppers), Pippa will create before your eyes a musical about the question you never thought you'd be able to answer.
